That is how far Naomi is from us right now! As I was wonder what she is doing at the same moment I am thinking about her the thought occurred to me, how far away is she? Turns out 10,808 miles....approximately. That is actually almost as far away as two people can be on Earth, at least according to wikipedia. Apparently the Earth's circumference is about 24,900 miles which means we are only a little less than 2000 miles off from being as far away as two people can be. She has been feeling that far away.
It's been about 48 days since we received her referral and there is no sign this process is going to speed up. Unfortunately it looks like processing of paperwork is slowing down a bit in China. We are waiting for our Letter of Acceptance which we were hoping would show up in the next couple of weeks but doesn't look like that will happen. There are people who have been waiting
70-90 days right now without letters of acceptance. Still hoping we get it in August, that would mean we would most likely have her home before Christmas, hoping we don't have to change our hopes to having her home before her second birthday. If only it were as easy as walking 10,808 miles.
One thing that is the same between our two worlds is the weather! Temperatures are in the mid 90's with 89% humidity there which is pretty much what it is here. Also Naomi and her foster family will likely be receiving the photobook we made for her this week. It had photos of us, her, family, Nebraska, our house, our pets. We were able to write them and her a letter along with send her a few things, stickers, stretchy headbands, all things that could lay flat in the book. I hope her foster family has her spend some time with it!
I am going to be back to blogging more, I've got a lot of posts stored up so hopefully back to updating regularly!
